Our History

Our History

During the 1980s, in cities like Muradabad and Meerut, situated in Uttar Pradesh, there were indications of various humanitarian initiatives emerging to tackle local socio-economic challenges. Notably, in 1982, Meerut might have been the focal point for relief efforts aimed at addressing specific regional needs. Bhagalpur and Sitamarhi, districts in Bihar, faced adversities such as floods, prompting responses from government agencies, local communities, and NGOs to provide humanitarian aid.

In Assam, a northeastern state, recurring floods have necessitated sustained relief and rehabilitation efforts. Additionally, the devastating earthquake in Kashmir in 2005 led to extensive humanitarian work. Relief operations involved active participation from organizations like the Red Cross, government agencies, and NGOs, engaging in rescue missions, medical assistance, and reconstruction. Noteworthy was the sacrifice of army officers who lost their lives while aiding affected communities.

Amidst these early humanitarian initiatives, the Central Relief Welfare Trust, an NGO established in 1980, began its journey. While its specific involvement during these events requires further documentation, the trust played a crucial role in addressing local challenges and contributing to relief efforts. A comprehensive historical record, drawing from local archives, news reports, and government records, would provide deeper insights into these early humanitarian endeavors and honor the sacrifices made, including those by the armed forces.
